and the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. [isaiah 6:4]

nothing escapes God’s holiness

in the beginning – everything was created by holy God.

everything was formed and touched by holy God.

then our sin – broke into this world, and broke this world.

but one day, everything will again be touched by his holiness.

for in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. (colossians 1:19-20)

this world and all the things it it are stained by sin. but when they are confronted by the unveiled holiness of God’s presence, they are affected – changed.

the temple shook in the midst of God’s holiness and the worship of his holiness.

the temple filled with smoke from the fire of his holy presence.

the temple was changed – not by isaiah’s presence or the dead king uzziah’s absence.

rather, it was changed by the Lord’s holy presence.

if stones and inanimate objects are affected by the Lord’s holy presence – how much more you and i.

today – seek his presence! his presence changes things. seek his heart, his character. sit, wait, and listen.

hear, o Lord, when i cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! you have said, “seek my face.” my heart says to you, “your face, Lord, do i seek.” [psalm 27:7-8]

(psalm 27 is great psalm to sit in as you wait.)
