21 do you not know? do you not hear?
has it not been told you from the beginning?
have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 it is he who sits above the circle of the earth,
and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;
who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;
23 who brings princes to nothing,
and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.
24 scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown,
scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth,
when he blows on them, and they wither,
and the tempest carries them off like stubble.
25 to whom then will you compare me,
that I should be like him? says the Holy One.
26 lift up your eyes on high and see:
who created these?
He who brings out their host by number,
calling them all by name;
by the greatness of his might
and because he is strong in power,
not one is missing.

the answer to our questions
this passage begins with a striking series of rhetorical questions – questions that we already know the answer to;
“do you not know?”
“do you not hear?”
“has it not been told you from the beginning?”
“have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?”
we do not have to look very far to find the evidence of God. as paul writes in romans 1:20, “his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world”.
the questions we have about life, the biggest answers we seek, are already answered in Christ.
princes and rulers come and go but He reigns eternal. He alone has created the universe and all that is withing it.
He alone sustains our life and holds all things in order.
there is nothing that can be compared to Him. there is no other place where we find salvation and rest.
our God is a great God, the maker of all things, and while He knows every corner of the universe, at the same time He knows everything about each of us, in detail.
we worship a God who loves us each dearly and is working all things together for our God.
praise to the God who gives us His word that we may know Him more everyday, and worship Him with all our hearts!
