for our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. [2 corinthians 5:21]

the great exchange

do you know yourself loved like this?

once we were slaves to

every wicked thought.

every angry word.

every jealous act.

every deception.

every lust.

every theft.

every filthy word.

every inconsideration.

every act of selfishness.

every prideful desire.

we were enslaved to sin:

but in Christ, we are forgiven–all of the punishment for our disobedience heaped upon Jesus Christ in the form of affliction, suffering and torture. his blood to cover our sin.

all of this so you could become the righteousness of God–so that our Holy Father could look upon you with no wrath, and there would be no more shame.

in the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. but when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. and because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” so you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. [galatians 4:3-7]

this is the great exchange–we were slaves and now we are sons–Jesus took the punishment deserved for you and i.  now we are free–free to walk in obedience, free to live under the Lordship of our King Jesus.

let us walk in the light, let us walk in our new identity: as righteous sons of the Most High God!
