“and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,” [2 timothy 1:10]
our savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death… may this truth move our hearts to worship our King who hasn’t abandoned us and promises to never leave us or forsake us. because of Christ’s atoning work on the cross, the curse of death has been broken and now we have life forever in him!
while physical death is still a reality for all of us, we have hope because God has broken the power of death. death is no longer the end. death no longer has the final say. Jesus’ finished work on the cross is the final word. and that final word, is life.
life forever, united with our heavenly father. face to face for eternity with the one who made our souls and holds us now in the midst of our pain and suffering. and this is what our hearts long for, as we feel pain and see the effects of sin and death all around us. may they remind us of the life eternal that we have with the father. that all of this is but for a little while, and one day our father will call us home and then, once and for all he will wipe every tear from our eyes as we behold him, the one who gave himself that we might have life.
so take courage my friends, as we see and feel and are reminded of sin and death around us. may our hearts rest on this promise, that we have in Christ, life and life eternal with him.
“and i heard a loud voice from the throne saying ‘behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. he will dwell with them and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
he will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning or crying, nor pain anymore…’”
“and he who was seated on the throne said, ‘behold, i am making all things new.’”
